Addicted to the Light

I held on for the life of me,
through early and dark mornings
driving through a seemingly
endless highway towards a
destination that squeezed my
insides while tormenting me
with nothingness.
Because to do nothing is like
welcoming death.
So before boiling, I let go
and changed course while
looking up at the stars because,
like my primal self,
I needed to be guided by the sky.
It showed me in which direction to
go,
proving that the coordinates have
been there all along,
except
I was, for far too long, looking
elsewhere.
